A PYP Teacher's Philosophy - In a Nutshell

Even though the Primary Years Program (PYP) provides a very elaborate framework for learning, it also allows for teachers and students to express their individual personalities and characters. It is a strength and a professional asset to be well-familiar with the PYP texts and manuals, but it is just as important to remember why we teach!

It's in our human nature to learn. We are constantly driven by our curiosity--from the day we are born to the day we pass.

In a formal school environment, we give that strong human drive shape and direction, and not just for students but for a whole community.

Still, as a teacher, I put my students first, and I think no matter what the curricular framework happens to be: If you cannot establish meaningful connections with your students, teaching is not (yet) your profession.

Please look at the smaller menu points to the left for where I put my emphasis as a PYP classroom teacher.
